Isosurfaces in Abaqus CAE ? Available ?

Isosurfaces in Abaqus CAE ? Available ?

(OP)
Hi,

Could anyone please tell if there is an option to plot isosurfaces in Abaqus CAE visualization. This option allows one to see 3D surface contours of output variable (stress, strain etc.,).

I used isosurfaces in Marc-Mentat and I was just wondering if CAE has an option like that.

Thanks in advance
SS

Have you tried to create a Display Group using the Result value method?

Xerf,

I am not familiar with the method you are mentioning. Could you please suggest what is the method  or where could I find more info about the method.

Let me take this opportunity to explain what I mean by isosurfaces. I realized that Abaqus manual uses the term for defining Drucker_praeger materials with a completely different definition.

For eg., if we want to contour Max. strains in 3D. What I want to know is, if it is possible to find all points of equal Max. strain  and fit a surface through them all. I actually want to see how the principal surfaces would like in 3D.Hope this helps.

Thanks
rajesh
