Frequency Response Analysis for Diagnosis of Power Transformers

Frequency Response Analysis for Diagnosis of Power Transformers

(OP)
Hi everybody,

Do you have experience with the FRA method for detection of deformations in power transformers?

If you have had experience with this method, I would appreaciate very much your comments.

Best regards,
JLVC

RE: Frequency Response Analysis for Diagnosis of Power Transformers

It is a good technique for detecting winding movement after a heavy fault but you must get a 'fingerprint' done when the transformer is in good condition for it be any use. You can't just apply FRA after a fault to assess the transformer condition.

You might want to try Doble in the UK and see if John Lapworth is still working for them. He was one of the UK's leading experts on the technique.
