Cold box applications

(OP)

Specification for valves for cryogenic service BS 6364:1984

4.5 For applications other than cold box applications the minimum gland extension length shall be 250mm.

What are cold box applications?

RE: Cold box applications

Any kind of large box containing piping, valves, heat exchangers, etc, all packed inside the box with the exception that valve handles extend through the box so they can be operated.  The box is then packed with insulation material such as rockwool.  Distilation columns for example are often built inside cold boxes.

RE: Cold box applications

Those bix sqaure shaped tall boxes that say linde, or airproducts on them and you pick up liquid N2 and O2 from the site are cold boxes.
