Contact definition Abaqus - Help needed

(OP)
Hi,

I am trying to model contacts in layered (plastic over linear viscous) solids. I am running into a problem.

Once the deformation begins, the viscous body flows more easily and comes into contact with a different face of the plastic body than the one it was initially in contact with. My question is

1. How do I model (in CAE) deformable contact between two solid faces that are initially unrelated, but will eventually come into contact with one another. What contact controls/adjustments are recommended for this type of analysis. I would like to model the whole process in one time step.

Thanks in advance
SS

RE: Contact definition Abaqus - Help needed

The faces don't have to be in contact initially in order for you to create a contact pair for them. So just create a contact pair for them in CAE and it will work once they touch during the simulation.
