(OP)
Is there a way to disable the generation of a preview image upon saving an assembly?  It takes several seconds every time I do a save. I may wish to invoke it later after the assembly is developed, so that others can benefit from a good preview, but for now I can do without.

Regards,
Bob

RE: Save in NX5 without generate preview image.

File -> Properties -> preview tab
change the 'creation time' option from 'on save' to 'on demand'.

RE: Save in NX5 without generate preview image.

You'd probably do well to create a little macro for this in your situation. If you wanted it off all the time then I'd suggest changing your templates, and default(null) parts and your customer defaults because out of the box these setting are usually turned on. However you only want to disable them, I guess to save file size, after the design is complete and to do that you need user input as to when you're ready to turn it off. Once set the setting will persist with the part on an individual part by part basis.

Best Regards
