Sheetmetal Forming Tool

Sheetmetal Forming Tool

Sheetmetal Forming Tool

(OP)
I'm using SolidWorks 2001 Plus sp2. I have a sheetmetal part that has two bends. Next operation would be to simulate a form tool putting a vee into a section of the part but this would also interupt the bend. I thought that creating a form tool and dragged it over to the part would work. What i get is extra material from the form tool hanging past the bend. Am i going at this all wrong??

RE: Sheetmetal Forming Tool

I have a similar form tool.  Unfortunately, the tool is dependent on the material thickness and bend radius of the sheet metal part.  If these parameters do not match, the form will still work but extra material will appear (typically on the outside of the bend).  I think you should start by checking the thickness and bend rad of the form tool and target part.
