Compressor, exclusion from PED

Compressor, exclusion from PED

Compressor, exclusion from PED

(OP)
Does anybody know why compressors are excluded from EU Pressure Equipment Directive?
I assume equipment of any physical energy source may be deemed as the exclusion described in Article 1, 3.10, but still not sure.

Thank you for advice.

RE: Compressor, exclusion from PED

Go to http://europump.org/ and read the position paper that this organization presents. They reach a similar conclusion.

RE: Compressor, exclusion from PED

Eastend,

One of the exclusions from the pressure equipment directive occurs when the geometry of the equipment is designed for mechanical purposes and far exceeds that required to act as a pressure envelope. Any such equipment would fall under the Machinery's Directive.

Fawkes.
