AMPCO 45 alternatives?

AMPCO 45 alternatives?

AMPCO 45 alternatives?

(OP)
Does anyone have any experince machining this? I think it may be a little overkill for my application and Im considering alternates. It will act as a wear plate to control lateral movement. Original Dwg from a long long time ago calls for this material, but Im learning to question everything!! (It hasnt been replaced in @20 years)

RE: AMPCO 45 alternatives?

Aluminum Bronze can be an absolute bearcat to machine.  Having said that, it tells you something if it hasn't needed replacing in 20 years.  I would replace it with what it calls out, and let your successor worry about the next replacement :>)

RE: AMPCO 45 alternatives?

Could also try 630 Bronze.
