openclipboard failed ERROR message!

openclipboard failed ERROR message!

openclipboard failed ERROR message!

(OP)
Does anyone have a fix for the following error message.
"openclipboard failed".

It occurs when trying to insert a part or assembly into another assembly.

I am running Win XP 64 on a Dell T-7400 workstation.
SolidWorks 2009 SP 3.0

Thanks in advance

RE: openclipboard failed ERROR message!

Does drag-and-drop or Insert > Component > Existing Part/Assembly work?

RE: openclipboard failed ERROR message!

No - I can't insert at all but I think I found the problem identified on the SW portal. Unfortunately no solution is listed.

It looks like if you run a remote desktop application this errors appears. I am remoting into my laptop for email and other things and only using the Workstation for SW.

thanks

RE: openclipboard failed ERROR message!

I don't use Microsoft's Remote Desktop, but I do use a remote access application called LogMeIn, and it does not create the problem you are experiencing.

My suggestion would be to disable Remote Desktop to determine if that is causing the problem.

RE: openclipboard failed ERROR message!

Speaking of the SW portal.  How do you get there to find out how to use a solution?  I have the hardest time finding things on the SW website.

I log on to the SW portal using my e-mail address and a password established using our license code.
Specific steps are:
1. go to solidworks.com
2. select "login" at the top of the page
3. select "solid works customer portal
4. enter your user name and password
5. then select "knowledge base"

I found the search capability very good. unfortunately the searches turn up many problems but with few solutions
