importing CAD from solidworks to thermal desktop
importing CAD from solidworks to thermal desktop
(OP)
Hi, I'm attempting to import a solidworks model into thermal desktop and then I would like to populate the surface with nodes.
I am new to this process and I have found some information through google, but I am wondering if anyone has done this before and would be able to point me in a clear direction from a completed soldiworks model to a thermal desktop node populated model.
Any pointers would be greatly appreciated!
thank you,
windell

RE: importing CAD from solidworks to thermal desktop
Just looked at the Thermal Desktop website and there does not appear to be too many choices. They have IGES and STEP import/export but only with versions of Mechanical Desktop and STEP 209 (which I am not sure is supported by SolidWorks). Maybe the answer is to export an ACIS file from SolidWorks and then open it in Mechanical Desktop and then export the MDT file to Thermal Desktop.
