The latest, and perhaps last, version of the FontFactory application is now available.  Below is a list of enhancements in this latest version:

(1) Display of Unicode character names

(2) Display of cursor coordinates

(3) A text sample, to show font appearance

(4) A simple two-level Zoom function

(5) Function to save a tabular summary of a font

(6) Control of TrueType import via a text file

(7) Selection of strokes by rectangle

(8) Copy/paste/delete of selected collections of strokes

(9) Editing of FNT text within FontFactory

(10) Editing a Character Table view of the font

(11) Three functions to sort characters within the font

(12) Info function for finding duplicate characters

(13) Info function for finding missing characters

(14) Functions to copy graphical data to the Clipboard

(15) Launching editing functions by double-clicking

(16) Better keyboard shortcuts

(17) Smarter character filling, which now omits tiny strokes

As before, there is a .pdf document included with covers how to use FontFactory.

Attached is a zip file of the program and it's documentation (edit the file extension from .zipper to .zip before attempting to uncompress the files).

Anyway, have fun.

RE: FontFactory 3.0 now available

As a bonus, one of our people recently developed a new set of NX Fonts which you may feel are superior to the ones currently being distributed with NX.  The fonts are known collectively as 'Hershey Fonts', named for Dr. Allen Vincent Hershey who actually developed the original fonts in the early 1960's while working for the U.S. Naval Surface Weapons Center in Dahlgren, Virginia.  He was trying to solve a problem of providing an easy to read set of fonts for an early computer display.

For the full story of Dr. Hershey, and why and how he came about developing the font style which today bears his name, there's a .pdf document included in the .zip file attached to this note which covers this subject quite extensively along with samples and a full index of the characters included in the font.  Also in the .zip file is a folder containing the library of 'Hershey' fonts (there are 20 fonts altogether) already converted to the NX Font format (.fnx files).

To use these fonts, simply copy them to the...

...\UGII\ugfonts

...folder or place them in the folder pointed to by the...

UGII_CHARACTER_FONT_DIR=

...environment variable.
