Correlations for viscosity on fuel oil dilution
Correlations for viscosity on fuel oil dilution
(OP)
Hi, everybody,
My name is Renato. I'm a chemical engineer in Brazil.
I'm doing my post-graduation on petroleum refinnig. My project is based on correlations to predict the fuel oil viscosity when diluted with medium distillates.
I found many models based on Viscosity Blending Numbers, such as maxwell's and refutas's. I also found some based on dilution of heavy oils and bitumens, with many equations, such as Lederer.
But I've found little about fuel oil. The only specific article I found is the following:

Can anyone suggest me something? Any correlation or any article about fuel oil dilution.
Thank you in advance,
Renato

RE: Correlations for viscosity on fuel oil dilution
Shell have a program here:
http:
Exxon Mobil Marine Fuels also has a program and DNV PS.
You will also find some nomographs and calculations in ASTM D341. (the source of the temperature density relationship commonly used).
I guess the calculation basis is the Wright equation for viscosity, most of the other properties are additive.
PS: Note most of these calculations are two component blends. In some operations, and especially with fuel sulphur having become critical, there are multi-stream blends which require ore complex calculations.

"API Technical Data Book Petroleum refining " about 1300 pages and you go to Chap ter 11 Viscosity
You can found all about Petroleum Products Physicals and Thermodynamicals Proprieties calculations
It is free on P2P
