Isolators for a steel pump to an aluminum roof.
Isolators for a steel pump to an aluminum roof.
(OP)
I have a pump that is going to be placed atop of an aluminum roof and am wondering what type of isolation material to use for bolts, a 1/4" plate between the pump and the roof and what sort of coatings to use between the materials. There will be no pressure placed upon the roof by the pump. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I was wanting to use a rubber of some sort as to the flexibility of the material. I have seen Polyethylene sheets large enough for the task as well.

This sounds like a question either for forum384: Mechanical Acoustics/Vibration engineering, or for forum507: Structural engineering other topics.
If the roof mount points are strong and rigid, you need shock mounts appropriate for whatever vibration is transmitted out of the pump. If the roof mount points are not strong and rigid, your anti-vibration mounts create a 2DOF vibrating system which will be a lot harder to analyze.
How will your rubber shock mounts work outdoors under weather and UV?
