Profile, where datums are specified

Profile, where datums are specified

Profile, where datums are specified

(OP)
I am having a hard time understanding exactly what I need to report.  This is what I have.

The drawing shows asks for the true position of a hole that is located on a tab.  On another veiw, it asks for the profile of the tab,followed by the profile with specifies datums;

Profile/.015/
Profile/.020/A/B/C

It is that second callout that is bothering me. I think that they are either asking me about the profile at the location of the center of the hole or the profile in regards to the shape of the tab.  The periphary, not the surface.  But I'm not sure, and even if I were I am not sure how to report it.

I have attached a couple of views from the drawing.  I'm sorry cannot make it more clear, but the drawing is proprietory.

It is late in the day for me, so I will be checking back in the morning..........Thanks!   Kay.

RE: Profile, where datums are specified

You should follow the composite profile rules: The tolerance value of the lower segment is refining the location of toleranced feature, it must always be a smaller value than the tolerance value of the upper segment.

So, |Profile|.015| should be on the lower segment of the profile callout.

From the portion of the drawing that you have shown... I would say that they are controlling the form of the surface that the leader line points to within a flat or otherwise specied form of 0.15 and the displacement either side from the basic contour of the surface from |A|B|C| within +/-0.10 or 0.20 total profile.

The specification is non-standard as SeasonLee commented, the smaller value with fewer datum references should be on the bottom of the callout.

Report the total form deviation of the surface directly to the total allowance for form 0.15.

Report the greatest deviations from basic in the plus and minus directions separately i.e. |profile|0.20|A|B|C| (+/-0.10) is +0.03,-0.07 or +0.11, +0.02  or 0, -0.13.

Thank-you for your responses.  It appears that I was making it more difficult than it needed to be.
