Threaded hole on cylinder surface
Threaded hole on cylinder surface
(OP)
Hi all!
I'm trying to make a standard hole M4x.7 in a small excenter. However there is no option to use the depth through until or through next. This leave me no choice but to set the lenght separately for the hole and the thread. This works very well in the model but doesn't look so good when you are making the drawing. Then the thread is drawned as a line even if it is hanging in mid air.
Anyone got a tip how to solve this one.
TIA /Bjorn

RE: Threaded hole on cylinder surface
The problem was that if you choose to create a hole and then choose "standard hole" you don't have the option to set the depth to "through next" or "upto surface". You can only choose between through all or variable. If you make a standard hole and set the depth to variable you get strange lines in the drawing if the surface where the hole ends is convex or concave, ie in the drawing the thread will be shown with the lenght you put in "variable" even if the part itself is thinner than that depth.
But I manage to fix the problem by making a straight hole and then add a cosmetic thread.
BTW, it would be great if you had the oportunity to add a small picture to your question. Then it would be a lot easier to explain things.
