Cul de sac radius

Cul de sac radius

Cul de sac radius

Can anybody point me towards the best way to set the proper radius for a cul-de-sac in Map 3d? I just need to define it so that it shows up as the right outline. Is this something that is changed in the GIS data, or do I need to go and draw this in for each ocurrence in the map?

I'm just starting out with fiddling around in here, so I'm not entirely familiar with the product yet.

Thanks

Get Architectural Graphic Standard about Cul-de-Sac geometries.  Much of its geometries are based on vehicle turning radii.

Well, I have a rough idea of what the geometries are. I just need some pointers on how to actually define that in Map 3D (if it's possible).

Thanks.

RE: Cul de sac radius

Sorry, I don't deal with Map 3, however from an academic interest what do you mean be the word "define"?; also, is Map 3D an Autodesk product?

Right now I'm using Map 3D because it deals with the data in a way that I like better than some other products.

I'm working with some GIS data that I got from the local county. I want to know if it's possible to tell Autocad that certain polyline features are actually cul-de-sac's, and have it render them with a certain style when I plot.

Although, it's starting to look like I might have to convert the features to geometry and draw in the detail I want.

Sorry, I'm very new to this.

RE: Cul de sac radius

"....I want to know if it's possible to tell Autocad that certain polyline features are actually cul-de-sac's..." From that statement, I think that you will need to draw out a Cul-de-Sac. If its geometry is the same for the rest of the Cul-de-Sacs in the GIS data, then either make the drawn out Cul-de-Sac into a block or a Group which then can be reuse to draw other Cul-De-Sac in Map 3D.
As I said,I don't use Map 3D, however, being an Autodesk drawing program, I am confident that you can make Blocks or Groups.

That's what I've been leaning towards, thanks. I just wanted to make sure. Since Map 3D imports raw GIS data, a lot of times it can apply specific styles based on the underlying data. I do that whenever I can because then if the underlying data changes, the styled features automatically adjust. It saves a lot of time.

Thanks for your time.
