Cold Form Design Lists

Cold Form Design Lists

Cold Form Design Lists

(OP)
I was modeling some cold form trusses and I want to use the Dietrich database for the redesign list. I tried checking the box (make default database) for Dietrich but Risa is still choosing the AISI database for the redesigns.

I think that I have to go into the redesign files and change the following to Dietrich...

[ASSOCIATED_DATABASE]
AISI 1999

Do I change this to Dietrich? and where is the dietrich database located? and will this also change the available shapes underneath this line? or do I have to copy the shapes in.

RE: Cold Form Design Lists

Stazz -

You've got two options:

1) The default database setting doesn't fully take effect until you exit and re-start the program.  When you do this, then the program will recognize that you don't have any design lists for your default database.  Therefore, it will use some internal default databased called "CU Default", or "CS Default" or that sort of thing.

These defaults will contain ALL the CU or all the CS shapes listed in our Dietrich database.  Make sense?

2) You can create your own design lists with the associated database being set to Deitrich (exactly as it is spelled in the Database / manufacturer drop down list in Shape selection Dialog).  Similar to option #1, these new design lists will not take effect until you restart the program.

The drawback with option 1 is that you don't have the ability to customize that list at all.

The drawback with option 2 is that you are forced to enter in all the "available shapes" yourself.  So, it takes some more work to create the list.

I hope that helps!

Josh
