Shotcrete retaining wall

Shotcrete retaining wall

Shotcrete retaining wall

(OP)
I've been tasked with constructing a temporary shotcrete wall for construction phasing.  Basically because we do not have the required right of way for 1 phase of a building project we need to construct a 10' tall temporary retaining wall at the edge of the property.  After several weeks of work is completed this wall will be "swiss cheesed" and buried.  I've visited with several subcontractors that specialize in underground pool construction, and they seem to be fairly knowledgable on what's required, but I'd really like to have some simple calcs to double check them.  Any ideas on where to start looking?  It is extremely critical that this wall have no problems as it will provide the only access to the site beside it.

And in case any of you were wondering I am an excavation contractor, not an engineer.

RE: Shotcrete retaining wall

You need to hire an engineer, have him prepare a sealed design and follow it.  Ask the subcontractors who do the pool construction who does their engineering.  Someone will know someone.
You'll be taking on a lot of unnecessary liability without having a sealed design.  People get killed by soil cave ins, even 10 ft. ones.  Your insurance carrier would be very interested in this, and not in a good way.
The not so grim part of this is it really won't cost that much to get an engineer to design this.

To further clarify, the subcontractor's will be utilizing an engineer to draw up the wall.  I simply want to understand the logic behind it
