Product ideas for low-flow and high head configurations
Product ideas for low-flow and high head configurations
(OP)
I have an application in a developing country. The site has no access to electricity, so the pump will need to be powered by a diesel generator or other source. Total head is approximately 300 ft. and the maximum available flow is 8 gpm.
Can you suggest any products that can work with these conditions? Pumps, power sources, etc?
Ideally, the pump needs to last 25 years or so (with scheduled maintenance, of course).
Any ideas are much appreciated.

I'm thinking a horizontal axis windmill, and 600 feet of chain with tin can 'buckets' wired on.
I guess you need to import the chain, the wildcat, a shaft and a couple of pillow blocks. The rest you can probably fab from local materials.

There are some solar run well pump systems that move water a little slower than that but close.
You should consider a solar driven submersible, or a few, as then you could have a graceful failure. One could fail and still leave you with some water rather than the diesel throwing a rod and leaving you out completely until repairs can be done.
8gpm - How many gallons a day? Did you plan on running the diesel continuously?
