How to assign custom macro to keyboard?

How to assign custom macro to keyboard?

How to assign custom macro to keyboard?

Hello
In NX5 how do I assign a custom macro & or journal file to a hotkey?
Any help would be appreciated.

RE: How to assign custom macro to keyboard?

OK, first you have to at least assign your macro/journal to a Pull-down menu and once that is done you can then assign that new menu item a hot-key.

So to create a naw menu item, go to...

Tools -> Cusstomize...

...and select the 'Commands' tab.  Now go down to near the bottom of the list and select 'New Button' and from the list of options select 'New User Command' and drag it to which ever Menu-bar item that you wish to place it.  Once it's been placed and while still in 'Customize', select the new item and press MB3 and select 'Edit Action'.  Now select the appropriate 'Type' of action and enter the path to the macro/journal file as well as any 'Balloon help text that you wish to see when accessing this command.  Once that's complete, you can reselect the new item, press MB3 and assign it a 'Name'.  I would now leave Customize and test your new 'button' to make sure it works.

OK, now reenter the Customize mode only this time select the 'Keyboard' option at the bottom of the Customize dialog and when the new dialog comes up, go to the bottom of the list of 'Categories' there should be an item titled 'My User Commands'.  Select it and you will see a list of all of the items which you have added to the menus, and if this is the first one you've done, it should be only item there so select it.  Now you can enter the desired hot-key in the window titled 'Press new shortcut key:'.  If that sequence is already being used it will notify you of that (at this point you may wish to select the 'Report' option as they will display all of the current shortcuts assigned to NX.

Anyway, once you've assigned your hot-key, leave customization and immediately save your Role so that these changes will not be lost.

Now if you open the menu where you placed you User Command, you should also see the shortcut sequence.

I hope this helps you with what you were attempting to do.
