Pile Modeling in Sap2000

Pile Modeling in Sap2000

Pile Modeling in Sap2000

(OP)
I want to model a pile supported wharf in Sap2000 using p-y method(API),it is my first experiment and I need a complete help,Can anyone introduce me a step by step reference?

Thanks Msafa

RE: Pile Modeling in Sap2000

Use SAP's multi-linear plastic link. You will have to manually calculate the force vs deformation values yourself per API and input values into SAP's link.

RE: Pile Modeling in Sap2000

how about wave load model to the piles?
can SAP define this automaticly?

thx

RE: Pile Modeling in Sap2000

How do you want to generate and apply your wave load? Do you have your own separate program for generation of wave and current loads? SAP has an offshore module which is supposed to generate and apply wave load (user manual says Airy, Stokes, Cnoidal wave theories) and underwater current load to the structure. If you model the piles explicitly using frame elements, you can divide them and assign joint links to account for soil properties. I found this link which looks interesting:
