ACAD 2009 Problem

ACAD 2009 Problem

ACAD 2009 Problem

(OP)
Hi all,

I am running acad 2009, and have a dwg file created with building systems 2005. it is an electrical plan, and my problem is that all the recepticle blocks are scaled down so small that i cant see them but a dot. The creator of the drawing basically told me to pound sand an recreate the whole thing as its not his problem. I've been unable to find an object enabler. I'd hate to have to roll back to an earlier release but. Thoughts? Thanks.

RE: ACAD 2009 Problem

If you have 2009 Civil 3D land desktop companion, you will have a "UTILITIES" menu.  Select it and go down to edit.  Select rescale blocks/text.  Type in the value you would like to scale them to.  I recommend isolating that layer and object first.  Or select one of the blocks right click and select similar and fix the size in your properites menu.

i dont think i have 2009 civil 3d land desktop companion? i only have bare acad 2009

RE: ACAD 2009 Problem

Ok the only way that I know of using AutoCAD LT is to select the block and rt click and select similar.  Then change the dimensions of the block or scale of the block in the properties window.  That way you only change the dimensions of the block and the center of them will remain in the same place.

RE: ACAD 2009 Problem

i'm sorry, when i said "bare" i meant just autocad 2009 not add-ins of any kind. I see what you are saying. I dont recall seeing an option for selecting similar though....

RE: ACAD 2009 Problem

if these receptacles are blocks, refedit them, scale all parts to the appropriate size and reform the block and I think all of the receptacles will resize.

RE: ACAD 2009 Problem

(OP)
refedit says that i ** Cannot REFEDIT anonymous block **

any idea what that means?

RE: ACAD 2009 Problem

Can you right-click the block and select Edit Block in Place?

RE: ACAD 2009 Problem

(OP)
no it says ** Cannot REFEDIT anonymous block **

AFter looking a bot closer it seems there are several blocks all nested in one big block. i can explode them to their individual blocks but still get the error listed. I've never seen anything like this before.....

would anyone mind having a look at the file?

RE: ACAD 2009 Problem

Throw it up, I'll take a look, can't promise I'll be able to do anything but I'm happy to take a look...

RE: ACAD 2009 Problem

Hi Mitsu50,

I'm afraid you're stuck.  I took a look at your drawing and what I was afraid had happened did happen, and that was AutoCAD converted the BuildingSystems entities into one large block containing a bunch of anonymous blocks.

The good news is, you can explode the large block and the anonymous blocks will scale using the properties dialog box.

Sorry

i had a feeling that i'd be stuck.....is there any way that you know of that i can select all blocks and scale from individual insertion points. Otherwise i'd have to select each block and scale one at a time....I can see now after looking more that all blocks need to be scaled up exactly 100%. Thanks again for helping out!

RE: ACAD 2009 Problem

can you select the blocks, then use Ctrl-1 to get the properties window, then change the scale factors?

RE: ACAD 2009 Problem

(OP)
yes. I can select all blocks and change scale factor to 100, and they all maintain there insertion points on the drawing. Verry good. Thanks all!

prodraftsman, i didnt even see you have a file. Yes that looks great. the block need to be a bit bigger (scaled up 100%) but cool. as i replied i was able to select all, and scale. :)
