Skimming Pump in Highly Restrictive Area
Skimming Pump in Highly Restrictive Area
(OP)
I need to design a recovery system for a new well to be added to an old pump and treat system. The new well needs to recovery 100 gpd of LNAPL from a depth of 100'.
The facility does not allow use pneumatic pumps with a downhole air supply. Piston pumps are acceptable, but only for total fluids, not skimming. The location is Class I Div II, so intrinsically safe electric equipment would be required. This pumping equipment is expensive and the site would require a lengthy safety review.
Is anyone aware of an intrinsically safe pneumatic pump with no downhole air supply that can recover oil only?

RE: Skimming Pump in Highly Restrictive Area
Years back I recall some storage tank leaks were handled this way by engineers who mainly dealt with distribution of petroleum products. They recovered the product and it was apparently good enuff for sale. Not sure of such a forum here. Good luck.
