(OP)
what kind of experiences, good or bad?

do spares really interchange between the two?

example would be the Summit 2196 vs. a Goulds 3196.

RE: Pump "Clones" such as the 2196 vs. Goulds 3196?

As a lesson for not dealing with the OEM (Goulds)and supporting pirates, I think you should buy hundreds if not thousands of $$ worth of parts to hopefully find they don't fit and your stuck with them.

Please, do not feed the pirate equipment vendors.

If you read the Summit literature, not quite all parts are interchangeable with the Goulds.  I can't remember which, but there are differences.

Generally speaking, the fit and quality of the OEM parts is better, and you'll (probably) get better support with the OEM.  If you add pirate parts into the mix, you'll probably get zero support from the OEM.
