How to simulate and get the needed force for a press fit

How to simulate and get the needed force for a press fit

How to simulate and get the needed force for a press fit

(OP)
Hi

I'm kind of new to these forums, and I hope someone here can help me with my issue at hand.

Previously i have only had some experience with static simulations but now, for a project, I need to create a "latch", see attatched image. What I need to find out is how large force i need to apply to press the cylinder into the slit. However I do not know how to set up a proper simulation, connections, fixtures etc. So far I figured it to be a non-linear dynamic simulation, but that is as far as I got. Banging the brick wall down with my forehead is going to take long, can someone help me set this simulation up or point me in the direction of some tutorials, googling and searching the forum has not turned up much.

Thanks in advance

RE: How to simulate and get the needed force for a press fit

Why not displace the part the required amount and then obtain the force from the results?

Thanks for the tip corus. I actually found tutorials for my type of simulation under "Help", so I'll just get to it and see if I can't figure it out on my own.
