RE: Solkor summation transformer component

I think the cap is provided in order to reduce the reaction time of the pilot wire by decreasing the reactance. [Time=k*X/R]

RE: Solkor summation transformer component

It's part of a tuned circuit designed to give a peak response at the power system's fundamental frequency and suppress response at harmonic frequencies. There's some explanatory notes in the IEE book "Power System Protection Systems & Methods" - luckily Google has it as a preview to save you buying it! Here's the Link.

If David Beach happens to be reading this, this is a book which is worth adding to the FAQ.

Scotty,  Things are a bit hectic at the moment.  If you could send me a reminder through the FAQ comment I would appreciate it.  Thanks.

Thank you, Scotty. From the "link" it is clear that is a pass-high filter.
