Checking One Way Shear

Checking One Way Shear

Checking One Way Shear

(OP)
Hi !!!!

I'm modeling a mat using plate elements in STAAD.
I've done the analysis and comparing the results with the manual calculation.

Following are my queries..

1. Does one need to check One Way shear in a mat??
2. If so, how will u check one way shear using STAAD.

Any help will be highly appreciated..

Regards,
Arun.

RE: Checking One Way Shear

I would use appropriate load factors in the analysis such as 1.3 Dead Load and 2.17 Live Load in AASHTO code and go to Post Processing of Staadpro and look at SQX and SQY shear stresses. Compare these with phi x 2 x sqrt fc'. If these are less than phi x 2 sqrt fc' OK.
