WFMT
WFMT
(OP)
We need to inspect several pressure vessels using WFMT.
It is not a secret that surface preparation is critical to the sensitivity of this NDE method.
At the same time, we want to reduce downtime due to surface prep.
Can you share what preparation methods are you using?
Thanks,
Corgas

any particular brand of grit blast that you prefer?
Thanks,

RE: WFMT
It has been a while; I believe it is still black beauty (sp ?) because it really does a nice job of cleaning heavy oxide build-up on power boiler and piping components. Just curious, are you in Power Generation or petrochemical sector?
RE: WFMT
we are going in to check for Wet H2S cracking.
By the way, all the links that you post are very usefull!!!
Thanks,
Corgas
RE: WFMT
In your case, solvent cleaning & power wire brushing will normally suffice. If you have scaling, refer to metengr.
Are you ispecting the entire vessel ID surface or the usual suspects (nozzle welds)?
RE: WFMT
Partial inspection, basically due to extend of normal surface preparation
Thanks,
Corgas
