Wall Panel Openings

Wall Panel Openings

Wall Panel Openings

(OP)
I modeled a CMU wall and was trying to add openings (in the wall panel module) but I couldn't snap to any intermediate area in the wall and even if I could snap the opening wouldn't be created. After struggling for a while I deleted what seemed to be a layer of wall panel. After deleting whatever it is I deleted, then I was able to create the openings. What is this stuff I deleted?

RE: Wall Panel Openings

It must have been a wall region. These regions can either be drawn by you or the program creates it automatically if you try to solve a wall with no regions defined. You can't draw a wall opening on a wall region. Here's more about regions from the 3D help file...

"Within the Wall Panel Editor, you also have the option of creating different rectangular regions within your wall panel. Regions are used to further define areas of your wall panel for use in analysis/design"

RE: Wall Panel Openings

This is a frequent question within the support group....  The program will not allow you to create an opening within a region.  Thefore, you must delete the region to add your opening.

Of course, the reason why so many people miss this is that the program probably created the region for you when you first solved the model.
