Hydrograph & Hyetograph in Excel

Hydrograph & Hyetograph in Excel

Hydrograph & Hyetograph in Excel

(OP)
Does anyone know how to place a hyetograph with a hydrograph in excel.  I want to format it with the hyetograph as a secondary "Y" axis with the plot upside down above the hydrograph  Any ideas – I have tried everything! – Thanks

RE: Hydrograph & Hyetograph in Excel

I'll have to admit to not knowing what a hyetograph was.  After looking it up, there seem to be different styles.

Perhaps you could share some of the "everything" that you've tried, and why you were unsatisfied with the results.

RE: Hydrograph & Hyetograph in Excel

Can you post a scanned example of what you are trying to produce - I am not sure why you would want the hyetograph "upside down above the hydrograph".

Tricks you might consider to get the plot to appear the way you want it:

1. Over-write the default y-axis scales, so as to shift the minimum and maximum values for each axis, so that the graphs appear "stacked" on top of each other, instead of both plotting from the same base-line.

2. Plot "Values in reverse order" to plot one graph "upside down".

See attached sample - is this the sort of thing you want?

julian - close, but generally the upside down plot is a vertical bar graph. If we can solve this, I would also be very interested.

Thanks to everyone for looking at this. cvg is correct, the upside down plot is typically a vertical bar graph.  Thanks again everyone.

RE: Hydrograph & Hyetograph in Excel

The problem here is that the hyetograph is a bar graph along top (as cvg stated) or side and the hydrograph is a line graph along the bottom.  I have never been able to beat excel into submission for this.  So, I too am very interested in solving this.

Julian's "values in reverse order" available by right-clicking on the axis, is the key.
