API 520 Part 1 Edition Dec. 2008 vs Jan. 2000

Hi everybody,

Does anybody know which items, in new edition of API 520 part 1 (Edition 8th Dec. 2008) have changed / modified and how it could be affected to PSVs' design / selection? Thanks.

RE: API 520 Part 1 Edition Dec. 2008 vs Jan. 2000

The biggest change to the newest version is that the two-phase sizing has been changed.  The single point Omega method was eliminted (two-point remains) and the HDI HEM method has been included.

Additionally, the new version is now a standard rather than a recommended practice (RP), and it has been adopted as an ISO standard formatting and units (primary units are now in metric) have been modified to reflect the ISO formatting.

kiade,

you can consider reading the following to see wich items have been updated:

skearse,

I have got a copy of it and i cannot see the ISO reference on it. Are you sure API 520 ahve been adopted by ISO?

My mistake.  I meant to come back and correct that part after I posted it.  I was thinking of API 521, which was adopted as ISO Std. 23251.  520 Part I is not an ISO standard, but is now an API Standard rather than an RP.

Sheiko, that's a very good link.  I have been looking for something that summarized all of the changes and had not been able to find it.
