Generator Foundations-Estimate on Size?

Generator Foundations-Estimate on Size?

Generator Foundations-Estimate on Size?

Dynamic analysis of these foundation is lengthy. Some rules of thumb exist, like making the foundation wide and with weight about 3 times that of generator.

But is there a simplified method to estimate size of foundation given just the weight of generator?

RE: Generator Foundations-Estimate on Size?

Check GE's website, I remember they have some literature on design/analysis aspects of generator foundation.

RE: Generator Foundations-Estimate on Size?

Caterpillar recommends the foundation be adequately strong (that where the structural's come in) and that it should be at least equal to the weight of the driver and generator.

Could you please type in the link to ge publications here? I have trouble accessing the publication area.

IJR:

The title of the GE literature is "Gas Turbine Station and Foundation Manual" with serial No. GET-2910. It is a 30 page booklet, which exceeds the scanning capacity in my office. You may request your own copy from them if it is still in print.

However, I have attached 3 article clips, hope they help in certain way.

You are welcome. Hope all helps.

RE: Generator Foundations-Estimate on Size?

I ADVISE YOU TO LOOK AT BS CP 2012.
THIS CODE HAS VERY GOOD ADVICE ON THE DESIGN OF FOUNDATIONS FOR MACHINES/SOI PARAMETERS REQUIRED FOR DESIGN AND MANY REFERENCES FOR SUCH FOUNDATIONS.
