I used *Coupling to make sure the one-direction
displacements Ui of the nodes on the same line(in 2d axisymmetric model) are the same, but the
question is the reference node can not be localized on the line.

If i choose a point on the same line as reference node, it is giving a warning saying that 'it can not be used as reference node'.

Would you please explain how can I tie the nodes on one line together sothat horizontal line remains horizontal at any point of time during analysis....

Use *equation and create a set of nodes so that the U1 of that set will equal the U1 of another node on that line

thank you for your reply. I have another question that if I use Multi point constarints as you suggested, can it be possible to apply boundary conditions(say U1 if u2 is constrained by MPCS) of one of the nodes from the nodeset defined from the horizontal line.
