Dear Friends
Base Material - A53-Grade B -Group No-GR-P1.
Dia & Thk - 2" x 8.70mm
Metrode Zeron 100X TIG Wire - not listed in ASME Sect II Part C or Asme Sect IX
Query
Base Mat Detail - ASTM A790 ( P.No-10H)-3"x7.6mm
6G GTAW welder qualified F6/A8 Filler metal-ER2209.Is he qualified to weld using above unlisted consumable?
Appreciate prompt answer

RE: Is he qualified?
No.
According to ASME IX, a change of the F number, is an essential variable, so in your case since the filler metal is not listed, your welder / welding operator should be qualified using the not-listed filler metal. Also, I see a significant difference between the two base metals you describe; one is P No1, the other is P No 10H. So, it will be better for you and for your welder to qualify him to the materials (base and filler) to be used in the production...
Generally, not listed filler metals need to be qualified.
RE: Is he qualified?
If so, see the note of QW-433.
He will be qualified if it does.
RE: Is he qualified?
Metrode Zeron 100X meets the requirements for A-8 so as DVWE has stated he is qualified to weld,

RE: Is he qualified?
1)Metorde Consumable Data Sheet shows AWS Classification for both the above consumables is AWS A5.9.Can I say it also falls into SFA5.9 and F.No is F6?
2)Referring to ASME-2007-QW-432-page 129-F6 - SFA5.9-Apply to austentic and duplex SS- AWS-All Classfications.
3)Also need to refer to QW-433- F6 -Note(1)
4) Lastly refer to QW-442-shows reqd composition elements and readings.
After referring to above, I think the welder is qualified. Pls advise if I'M correct.
Once again THANKS for all your advise.
RE: Is he qualified?
Am I wrong? according to all the posts above, I am!
why do I have to follow the Code? I will have a long talk with my AI
RE: Is he qualified?
The example we have stated is for welder qualification only, he still must weld to a qualified WPS.
Have a look at QW 433 Note 1

RE: Is he qualified?
Thanks to all of you for invaluable contributions.
Another query require you help
In ref ASME Sect IX & Sect II Part C:--Any body have or come across Master List Table identify all essential/supplementary and non-essential variables to define Welder and Brazer qualification range & when he/she require requalification?
RE: Is he qualified?
See QW-352 thru QW-357.
RE: Is he qualified?
1st place,I guess my intention was not well written.
My query is:-
Is there any of you have prepared or came across consolidated table showing for Welding & Brazing Procedure & Performance Qualification variables requirements, range qualified , limitation and where/when requalification reqd inclusive of all the tensile and impact test requirements.
Or can anyone can give me a hand in preparing the table?
Thanks

RE: Is he qualified?
a) You need someone for the preparation of WPS's (Welding Procedure Specifications) --> see sample QW-482 form in ASME IX
b) Your WPS should be qualified by PQR's (Procedure Qualification Records --> see QW-483 form in ASME IX.
Suggestion 1 : Here you must pay attention to opt for a standard Thickness applicable to your Company (concerning your usual products ). Aim : to avoid multiplying PQR's qualifications...--> see QW-451 in ASME IX ;
c) Your work, described in the WPS, should be made by Welder Performance Qualifications --> see QW-484A or B in ASME IX .
Suggestion 2 : Here again you must pay attention to opt for a Standard thickness and Standard Outside diameter . Aim : to avoid multiplying WPQ qualifications...--> see QW-452 in ASME IX .
d) Welding Performance Qualifications --> see Article III = QW-300 of ASME IX with a view to apply correctly the rules "how to keep your Welders qualified" + QW-304 for Welders and QW-305 for operators...
Conclusion :
In my opinion, the suggestion of Mr168 (the purchase of a software package...) is not a solution for you at this stage :
MANUALLY you should master the variables of ASME IX and pay attention to use "Standardized" PQRs and "Standardized" WPQs...
That means you have a long way to go...
The purchase of a software package will never replace "your experience"
After having "accumulated" several WPSs, PQRs, WPQs when you will consider it is impossible to manage "manually" all these procedures then you will try to find something existing in the market (software package...) that can help...
Sincerely,
