sketcher question

sketcher question

sketcher question

(OP)
How can you create a circle with 2 curves?
I know that I can create 2 semi-circles and join them to form a circle.
Is there any other way we can form a circle using 2 curves?

RE: sketcher question

??? sorry, I didn't get the question

Actually idont have more information. This was a question posed by my coworker. I am supposed to answer him.

I need to know what are the various ways of generating a circle unsing 2 curves. (One of it like I wrote in my questions)

RE: sketcher question

Think you missed williwang's point here, why do you want to do it? Yes you say that was the question from your coworker but if we don't get the context the answers will not be so good.

Like you say you can make two circles, you can also make a circle and divide it another way is to use a second sketch and project and trim. But the big point is why??? Is it because the sketch will be used in a multi section operation later and for some reason you want to have two faces??? then splitting the circle is not the way to do it, create points and use coupling. In other situations the answer could be to use extract instead. It can even be so that this is not needed but the user coming from another system is used to do it a certain way and haven't realized yet that this is Catia.

RE: sketcher question

I remember few ways to create a circle:

from 3 pts
from 3 lines/curves (tangency to each of them)
from center with Rad value
From 2 pts with Rad value
from 1 center point and 1 passing point
from 1 passing pt and 1 line/curve (tangency to the line/curve) and a radius
from 1 center point and 1 line/curve (Tangency)
from 2 pts and 1 line/curve (tangency to the line/curve)
from 2 lines/curves (tangency on each) and a rad value
from 2 lines/curves (tangency on each) and a passing point

So with only 2 curves I can only think about an incomplete definition of the circle.

Itsmyjob, thanks a lot. I agree that my question is incomplete. I was figuring out the various ways a circle can be drawn including 2 curves. But as you all pointed out, it need additional parameter too.

That list was very useful. I will pratice these options :) and prepare for my debate with my collegue. I was sure I would get some answer here. thx.
