2008 is slow
2008 is slow
(OP)
My company just upgraded from SW2006 to SW2008. 2008 seems to lag when dimensioning sketches and drawings. Is it just me, or have others seen this as well?
When was the last time you drove down the highway without seeing a commercial truck hauling goods?

RE: 2008 is slow
It seems your company is also lagging in version upgrades.

RE: 2008 is slow
I've recently gotten more used to this ridiculous slow-down, so I don't have to hit Undo to turn a single step into three or four steps nearly as often as when I first made the switch. I've seen the same on other systems as well. My guess is that this problem isn't truly represented on ALL systems, but MY system is at better-than-minimum system requirements (scores 89-seconds in Anna's punch-holder benchmark) and this silly little delay is quite evident here. Also tried on a new, fast CAD laptop and saw the same there.
I'd suspect that many who don't work with this sort of hand-on-keyboard style wouldn't see the delay--it's often only ~0.5 seconds. It seems those who have this style and recently move from v2007 or earlier tend to complain about this bug.
I'm only committed with four projects in versions above v2007 thus far. The relatively few benefits I find from the latest versions are offset by other types of bugs, delays, or other problems such that I'm planning on evaluating v2010 before purchasing. (No point in shelling out for software to put on the shelf, eh?)

2. I downloaded the latest version of my video driver.
3. Here are my specs: Pentium(r) 4 cpu 3.00ghZ, 2.99ghZ 3.25 GB of RAM, Nvidia Quatro FX 3450/4000 SDI.
I have one of tha fastest computers in the company.

My system is about the same setup as yours Sirbartoo and I see slowdown in startup and some aplications. Unfortunately I also had no choice in when we upgrade (keeping up with customers instead of holding back.
I have found that even though I have plenty of memory available, sometimes having too many applications open will slow you down.

It doesn't sound crazy from MY point of view!

Check Cadalyst.com for recent reviews of systems for some idea how these new chips (like the i7) perform.

I have also noticed the delay in creating the detail dimensions in drawings and sketches.

Subsequent re-starts (not OS, just SW) = 6 secs.
