Possible to turn off object selection?

Possible to turn off object selection?

Possible to turn off object selection?

(OP)
Is it possible to turn it off in NX3? We're making a crude assembly animation to send to a customer, but unfortunitly the upper level part that's controlling the animation needs to be selected to make this work.

I've found a fairly easy work around for it by turning off face highlighting (selection color = same as edge highlight color in prefrences) and not showing background wireframe edges on selection, but it would be nice to turn it off all together (for this instance at least).

anyone know how this is done? My boss said that he recalls someone showing him how to do it before, but it's been a while.

thanks
Steve

turn your layer- settings (Layer with objects)  from selectable to visible

RE: Possible to turn off object selection?

I think you will find that if you toggle OFF 'Preselection' and 'Highlight Hidden Edges', that they will remain OFF, even if you exit NX and restart a new session, since the settings of most all of the 'Selection Preferences' are stored in the system registry.  The reason for this is because many of the values and options selected may be influenced by the type of graphics hardware which you are using as well as the speed and performance of the system, and so it was felt that these should be controlled like any other 'local' setting and that they NOT depend on Customer Defaults which is intended more to support stuff like company standards and best practices and global defaults, but not system specific ones.  Now if this is not happening, it's possible that your system admin has not given you the proper 'Write' access to the registry area.
