Low alloy sheet availability?

Low alloy sheet availability?

Low alloy sheet availability?

(OP)
Have been looking everywhere for sheet material equivalent to 387 Gr 11 to 22 ( 1.25 to 2.25 chrome) in 16 to 10 ga.

for higher temp application 1000F +or-

Cor-ten or A-606 type 4 does not cut it (average .4 to .6 chrome).

Stainless has too much difference in linear expansion for app.

any suggestions for a material with similar exp to C.S. available in sheet form? Mill run is out of the question for qty required.

Thanks

RE: Low alloy sheet availability?

Dunno ASTM A387, but A4 and A6 tool steels are 1.00 Cr and 1.00 and 1.25 Mo, respectively.

Though about a ferretic metengr, and actually it's perfect for the app.(Boiler Casing)

The problem is I am uncertain about a 387 to , say 409 weld.
We would need to "field" weld around 700 linear ft of 409 to 387.

This is a 1/8" seal weld.

Would probably need to use a 309 or 309L rod, and I am not sure this is practical given the footage.
Perhaps mig?

Your thoughts? Am I on the right track?

RE: Low alloy sheet availability?

I would use the MIG process and E309 (not 309L) filler metal despite my normal use of Inconel (which would be best for long term performance). The 309 will work for this type of casing application.
