Klixon overload protector

Klixon overload protector

Does anyone where on the internet, where I might find an internal schematic for an automatic resetting Klixon? What I need to know is what the three terminals go to internally.  The numbers on the Klixon are CET67ABN.  A Klixon is an overload protector used mostly in fractional horsepower electric motors. It is usually mounted on the inside (not always) of the motor. It can be either manual resettable or automatic. It is generally made of black plastic...the manual resettable ones will have a red button on them. I've tried a google search, but haven't had much luck, so far.

RE: Klixon overload protector

If there are three terminals and this is associated with single phase motors then the three leads are to interrupt the start and the run windings.  It's also important as to which terminal goes to the run and which to the start.

You could always call them: Klixon (508)236-3287

RE: Klixon overload protector

Just bell it out out with a meter then warm it up to cause a state change and measure the new connections. With three terminals there is a real short list of permutations.

RE: Klixon overload protector

In the drawing in the link provided by ccjersey the power goes to the terminal on the right.
The start winding connects to the terminal on the left, and the main winding connects to the terminal in the middle. That way the Klixon  interrupts the current to both the start and run windings, but only the run winding current flows through the heater wire.

Thanks ccjersy for the web site...that is exactly what I've been looking for. I have been trying to search google for three or four days. Thanks waross (Bill) for your information also. All comments are appreciated.
