RE: Power Panel Designation

What is the context in the bid spec?

RE: Power Panel Designation

Are there any loads, processes, machines or areas that may be described as AST?

I'd call the guy whose seal is on the specs, tell him he put an acronym in there that he needs to define with an addendum.

Then again, I like to irritate engineers who write stuff like that in specs.

Good on y'all,

RE: Power Panel Designation

I remember an electrical foreman who had a similar problem. One piece of equipment did not have a schedule for conduit size, breaker size, wire size or even a recognizable name. (Acronyms again.) The general contractor was putting a lot of pressure on to complete the rough-in. Finally the head designer journeyed to the Great White North to sort out a number of problems. He wondered why we had so much trouble up here in Canada building this simple dairy.
"We build these plants all over the United States with no problems at all!"
The electrical foreman took him straight to the print table and asked
"What is this?"
The expert looked and thought for a bit and the brightened up.
"Yes, now I remember that. You know, I remember wondering what the h3ll that was when I drew this print!"
And then he went home. Eventually the equipment arrived and the crew got the info from the nameplate.
I hope he has retired.
