Rapair without "R" Stamp

(OP)
Hi,
Can anybody repair pressure vessel without having "R" Stamp? Data report is already submitted to National Board and vessel returned to Manufacturer for repair?
Pls. guide me.
Thanks

RE: Rapair without "R" Stamp

BPVN;
Some states in the US do not regulate pressure vessels. If the object is installed in a Jurisdiction that regulates boilers and pressure vessels you must have an R-Certificate from the National Board to weld repair the vessel. Mechanical repairs to a vessel can be performed, in some cases, without an R-Certificate. Contact your local Jurisdiction where the object is installed for the most complete and accurate information.

RE: Rapair without "R" Stamp

Also per API 510, The repair organization must have and 'R' Certificate.

RE: Rapair without "R" Stamp

If a vacuum stiffener ring is interrupted by a nozzle on a cylindrical portion of vessel, how do we ensure that it has adequate moment of inertia to replace the cut ring? Is this allowed by code?

J. R. Polani,
Houston.
