Assembly Invisible?

Assembly Invisible?

Assembly Invisible?

(OP)
Hi All-

I tried looking back through the posts, but I couldn't find anything (nothing on Google, either).

Running SW 08 SP5.0

I have a sub-assembly of my main assembly. Everything has been fine, but for some reason I just tried to open the sub-assembly and all the parts show up on the feature tree, and are selectable in the graphics area... but they're invisible! I've tried restarting SW and the computer, no luck. I've tried to open the sub-assembly 3 or 4 different ways, same result. It's only this assembly. It's starting to get quite annoying.

Anybody seen this before? Anybody have a solution?

Thanks all.

Graphics card?

What happens when you change the viewing mode (Shaded, Shaded with Edges, HLR, Wireframe)?

Have the components been set to 100% transparent?

RE: Assembly Invisible?

Try opening the components and then the sub-assembly. This has worked for me.

CBL and felix-

Thanks for the replies...

Graphics Card - nVIDIA FX4500

Same thing, no matter what viewing mode.

How do I check transparency?

I'll try opening the components and then the assembly now, but it's fairly large, so it'll take a while.

Thanks again, and any more suggestions, please let me know.

No good.

It even shows up in the main assembly, perfectly fine.

I read on another message board that someone had to reinstall SW all together... I really hope that's not the only solution.

RE: Assembly Invisible?

what value do you have for the number of parts that triggers large assembly mode in system options -> assemblies?

rfus-

200.

The weird thing is that I was working on this assembly this morning. Nothing has changed. I can't understand why all of a sudden it's not working.

OK, so here's a clue (I think).

I tried to add another part into the invisible assembly, and I get this error message, "The component could not be added to the assembly at this location as it would go beyond the modeler's resolution."

Discuss. smile

This makes me think that there is one part really far away from the others, but I'm able to select things on the screen as if they're right in front of me (after I zoom to fit into the window)...

RE: Assembly Invisible?

Try saving a copy as a differnet name, then delete parts one-by-one to see which one is the culprit.

Just tried it, ctopher.

Down to no parts left... smile

Even the planes and origin don't show.

WOW.

OK, so apparently when in doubt, click normal to a plane, and your model magically reappears!

Seems to be fine now.

Very weird.

Thanks for all your suggestions, and if anyone thinks they have an explanation, please feel free, as I'd like to know what the hell just happened. 2thumbsup

RE: Assembly Invisible?

You were zoomed out to Pluto.  Your error message before was because you tried to drop the part on Saturn (I could've said Uranus if I was looking for a laugh).
