Program to remove '1 from expressions

Program to remove '1 from expressions

Program to remove '1 from expressions

(OP)
Hi guys... I'd like to clean up my expressions in a part from p222'1 to p222. All the expressions were imported from another part.
Is there a GRIP routine to remove the '1 from every expression? If not, any other options?
I'm on NX4.0.4.2, XP64
Thanks.

RE: Program to remove '1 from expressions

Is there any particular reason that you need to do this? The '# scheme makes sure that imported expressions do not overwrite any existing expressions.

RE: Program to remove '1 from expressions

If p222 does not exist then you can rename the expression p222'1 to that. You can even call it Derek if you like, but it is a one at a time manual process.

OK, here's a simple little GRIP program which will remove the 'hash' numbers from all the Expressions in your part file.

As always, before extracting change the file extension from .zipper to .zip.

RE: Program to remove '1 from expressions

I've made a slight modification to the program, adding some error checking just in case there are duplicate expressions after the 'hash' numbers are removed.  It will ignore those expressions and will leave both the 'hashed' and 'unhashed' expression names unchanged.  At the end of the run, the program will show you how many expressions were renamed and how many duplicates were left unchanged.

Again, change the file extension from .zipper to .zip before extracting the files.

There is no reason to do this except I hate looking at the disorder in the expression manager. It just looks sloppy to have an expression called thickness'1
Anyway, thanks John for the program. I'll try it out now.

Make sure you only download the file from my last entry yesterday.  Since the file names are the same that will save you some confusion (I should have given it a different name, but...).

I did, and it worked perfectly - renamed 120 expressions in no time... Thanks John.
