Importing step into Pro-e, it changes the names

Importing step into Pro-e, it changes the names

Importing step into Pro-e, it changes the names

(OP)
Hi
I am having trouble when I import step or parasolid files into PRO-E. The problem is in the model tree the part names have changed to (manifold-***). Is there anyway I can receive the assemblies so the part names remain the same (upr-shoe.prt). The step assembly file is just one file from (Catia or UG). Any help would be great. If something like this has been posted than please direct me. Thank you.

RE: Importing step into Pro-e, it changes the names

The only time I have seen Pro/E rename a part is when there are illegal characters in the name.  For instance, Pro/E will replace a space with an underscore.  I suppose it will also truncate names longer than the Pro/E 31 character limit but I've never run into that.

RE: Importing step into Pro-e, it changes the names

On a Parasolid import, each feature will come into Pro/E as a manifold_body. It deals with the mapping and mathmatics behind the translation.
