Serrated Steel Grating

Serrated Steel Grating

Serrated Steel Grating

(OP)
Can anyone please advise the minimum standard serration notching that would be required to hold a 300 lb. person with the grating angled from 9 up to 15 degrees? Gratings designations needed are W-19-4, W-26-4 and W-25-4 with bearing bar thicknesses of 1/8" & 3/16" as well as minimum standard cross bar sizes. Thank you very much.

RE: Serrated Steel Grating

In general, you need a grating thatn is 1/4" deeper than plain tread grating to carry the equal loads. For your case, I would think a 15 degree slope is close enough to a horizontal plane to use manufactueres load tables, and then pick the next deeper section to account for teh serrations.

Thank you very much NDGuy for your response. This will definitely be easier for us to approach now.
