Extract curves in work view

Extract curves in work view

Extract curves in work view

(OP)
Hello,

I'm trying to extract all the curves in a given model view, but I do not want the non-visible edges extracted.  It sounds like it's do-able per the documentation, but no matter what rendering style I use, I still get all the edges of the part.

Any advice?

From documentation:

"All in Work View
Allows you to create all edge curves, including any silhouettes, from the visible edges of the solid bodies and sheet bodies in the work view. If the work view's hidden edges are Invisible (MB3 in the graphics window), curves are created along the visible edges only. If the hidden edges are Dashed or Gray Thin, the hidden curves are created in dashed or gray thin font. Curves are created along any displayed grid lines. All curves are created view-dependent in the work view when you use this option.

After you choose All in Work View, the curves are immediately created."

Thanks,

Ben

RE: Extract curves in work view

I tried it.  I failed.

My workaround was to create a drawing view as I want it, then export as CGM.  The CGM file can be imported in modeling mode.

RE: Extract curves in work view

I don't think the documentation has caught up with the new rendering styles yet.

To get what you want, orient your part as you wish then go into visualization preferences. Change the rendering style to static wireframe and the hidden edges to invisible (or gray thin or dashed as desired). Now run the extract all in work view and you will get the documented result.

RE: Extract curves in work view

Try View>Visualisation>Assembly Hidden Line

If you have the licenses that may do the trick for you.

Thanks for the input.  Unfortunately I don't have the advanced assembly license, Hudson, so I couldn't try that.
Cowski, I was successful with your method.

Thanks again!

Ben
