Partition and create new parts in ABAQUS CAE

Partition and create new parts in ABAQUS CAE

Partition and create new parts in ABAQUS CAE

(OP)
Hi,

Using CAE, I want to partition a solid part  into two halves. My intention is to create two separate solids after partitioning .

I subsequently want to create separate orphan mesh for each half and assign different material properties.

My question is

1. Is it possible to create different parts by using the partition command ?

2. If not, is there any other way in CAE to do this.

I am importing the original (whole) part as a *.stp file.

Thanks in advance,
SS

Copy the part and use one of the 3D features such as cut/extrude and snip off the bit you don't want.

You can use the native partitioned geometry for 2 materials.  That will avoid the use of a tied constraint.  I hope this helps.
