can anybody describe to me how to reverse the rotation on a star delta starter please and to make sure i have the right connections as i have to do this soon on a job .I understand the general principles but just would like to clarify it. Thanks in advance.

RE: star delta starter

Switch line 1 and line 2 on the breaker feeding the starter.
Switch two incoming phases on the starter.
Don't change any starter wiring.

RE: star delta starter

If you are referring to being able to reverse the motor direction at initial setup and then leave it that way, follow Bill's advice.

If you are referring to being able to reverse the motor direction at will (as opposed to at setup), the easiest way if you are not sure how Star-Delta circuits work is to just put a reversing contactor ahead of your existing Star-Delta starter. Then set up your control circuit to always close the directional contactor BEFORE initiating the Star-Delta sequence.

If you know what you are doing, use a reversing contactor for the main line contactor. That is typically designated as 1M in NEMA circuits, K3 or KM3 in IEC circuits.
