Properties Problem

Properties Problem

(OP)
The properties tab is missing when I go to a 2008 part file's properties in explorer. I can see custom properties of SW 2006 files, but not properties of 2008 files. Is there a chack box that I have overlooked? I have no idea where to start looking.

RE: Properties Problem

Is this Windows Explorer or SolidWorks Explorer you are referring to?

Are the files originally SW2006 files that you are now using in SW2008?

Have the files been saved as SW2008 versions?

Do the files have custom properties assigned in SW when you go to File > Properties in SW.

In Windows Explorer > RMB > Properties > Custom Tab

In SW Explorer make sure to select the file in the File Explorer pane on the left, then select the Properties tab on the top right pane.

In Windows Explorer, you can right click on any solidworks file '06, '07, '08... select properties, and there will be a tab called custom. This tab allows you to edit the properties of a solidworks file with out opening the file. For some reason, this tab is missing from my solidworks 2008 files. I don't know if it is an explorer problem or solidorks setting. Any ideas?

I have found the problem. I needed to update Windows Explorer.
