Lofted Cut

Lofted Cut

Lofted Cut

(OP)
Using the 2007 version, I am trying to create intake/exhaust ports on a cylinder sleeve using a lofted cut. I started with the cylinder sleeve extrustion and then created 2 sketches one for begining of loft and one for the end. I projected these sketches onto the inner and outer surface of the cylinder. These projected sketches are exactly where I want the cut to be through the sleeve. The lofted cut feature doesnt like my curved profiles and says "The end sections of a loft must either be planer or 3D faces or surfaces. A 3D section that does not bound a face or surface cannot be used as an end section." Is there anyway I can convert the projected profile to a 3D sketch? Any other options? Thanks

Nevermind, I just figured it out. I traced the projected curves with a 3D sketch, which was really simple and did the cut. I had to also delete the 2 start and end faces because they for some reason didnt cut past them, not too bad.
